Caroline and Christopher met in August 2010 in the lobby of the LSU School of Music. Chris noticed Caroline on the very first day of school in choir rehearsal, and swears it was “love at first sight.” A couple of weeks into the semester, they were introduced by mutual friends while watching the popular Muppets’ rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” on YouTube. Over the next year, they developed a deep friendship built on their mutual love of music, sports, and nerd culture.
In October of 2011, after a long night of opera and musical rehearsals, Caroline and Chris decided to start dating. Caroline already really liked Chris, but a special gesture gave her an early hint that this relationship could be the real deal; instead of flowers, Chris brought Caroline a jar of JIF peanut butter on their first “official” date, having known that she had recently run out of it at home. What a keeper!
Fast forward, if you will, to November 14, 2017. Like most Tuesday evenings, Caroline and Chris joined their friends at Trivia Night held at the local Mellow Mushroom. For the very last question, Chris snuck up to the emcee stand and borrowed the microphone. Suddenly, Caroline and Chris’ “song” started playing from the speakers. Chris explained that he would be the announcer for a very special question, got down on one knee, and proposed! As an added surprise, Caroline’s parents had been hiding near the entrance and were able to share in the happy moment.
